Home again

Leisa is home and resting well. Hasn't eaten anything solid yet. Nausea still a problem. Maybe some solid food today. Slight expected fever remains . Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.

Chemoembolizaton

Chemoembolization went well but only time will reveal its true effectiveness. Leisa will stay at least tonight (Thursday) in the hospital. She's pretty nauseous and has significant pain around the liver tumor site. Drugs sort of work. 18-24 hours of pain is the estimate. Hope she can go home tomorrow (Friday).

There is no end to the fun.

Chemoembolization

Leisa's liver tumor will undergo chemoembolization on Thursday @ noon. She'll be at Suburban Hospital maybe two days thereafter. As I mentioned previously, there's some pain expected for a few days and probably the standard chemotherapy sickness for 3-5 days.

Leis is in the "What next?" mode and ain't real happy. Getting this past us and a summer without further treatment should perk her up .

I'll let you know how it goes.

Best regards,

Plimpton

Summer w/o chemotherapy

Good news from recent scans and Dr. visit. The tumors have only slightly increased in size. So, after a consult Thursday afternoon, leisa will undergo chemo-embolization as early as next week. A catheter is inserted in the groin and threaded up to the point where the tumor gets its blood supply from the liver. A chemothrapy agent followed by some exotic foam strangles the tumor and cuts off some of the blood supply. It should then shrink. The same procedure may follow in 4 or 5 months. The best part of it is no chemotherapy this summer.

Some pain usually follows for a day or two. The tumor gets a bit cranky after losing its blood supply. It is rather comfortable right now sitting on top of a constant gourmet meal. She might spend a day in the hospital for pain management. After that it should be smooth sailing until the fall.

I'll let you know how it goes.
